Making a Wedge Salad
You’ll love how easy it is to make a classic blue cheese wedge salad! The first step is preparing the lettuce. You’ll need 1 head of iceberg lettuce. Make sure the lettuce is fresh, firm and crunchy. Peel away a few outer layers of the lettuce, revealing the fresh lettuce inside. Give the lettuce a quick rinse and then use a sharp knife to trim off the bottom. Next, cut the lettuce in half, from top to bottom. Cut each half in half again or into thirds, for a smaller salad. Set the wedge onto a serving tray.
- You can prepare this salad on a large platter for family-style serving, or on individual plates.
Adding the Salad Toppings
Wedge salads are super versatile because you can add any type of toppings! I love my version of this salad with sliced creamy avocado. I also add sliced radishes, crumbled blue cheese and diced tomatoes. Don’t like blue cheese? Feel free to use goat cheese or feta cheese for this recipe! Also, feel free to add your salad favorites! Sliced cucumbers and shallots would also be a great addition!
Making the Salad Dressing
To dress this easy blue cheese salad, you can use your favorite bottled dressing or prepare my easy honey mustard dressing! It’s super easy to make! In a large measuring cup, combine all the ingredients: cream, oil, honey, mustard, vinegar, salt, pepper and basil. Whisk the ingredients together vigorously for 2 to 3 minutes until the dressing is smooth and uniform. Keep the dressing in a dispenser bottle or simply spoon it over the wedge salad!
