Caramel Mousse in Chocolate Bowls

Chocolate bowls are the latest culinary craze! These edible bowls are so much fun to make and to eat! For this recipe, I used the chocolate bowls as a serving dish for luscious, fluffy and creamy caramel mousse! Dessert cannot get more decadent! Fill the chocolate bowls with my caramel mousse and you’re all set for a special occasion. Make sure to keep these refrigerated until you’re ready to serve!

These fancy chocolate bowls are actually quite easy to make at home. You’ll just need some small balloons to achieve the shape. Make sure to wash the balloon, then allow them to dry and grease the outside of the balloons with a baking spray. This will help release the chocolate from the rubber surface. Make sure to use chocolate melts, not chocolate chips, which will set quickly, even at room temperature.

The velvety smooth caramel mousse is also easy to make! I start the mousse with a custard base and add loads of dulce de leche (cooked sweetened condensed milk), then fold in the fluffy whipped cream. If you can’t find this type of caramel in a store near you, try making my home-made caramel sauce and refrigerate it overnight until firm. I have recipe listed below!
